Wink as featured on James Dunlop

Christchurch based interior designer, Lisa Sinke, had a lightbulb moment one early morning.  She realised there was a gap in the market for bedheads that provide a boutique hotel bed-look and are easily purchased by consumers. Unable to find the kind of bedheads that matched her vision, she decided to create her own.

The Wink online platform is a new concept for New Zealand - a website that allows customers to select and purchase their own custom-made, environmentally friendly bedheads and accessories at the click of a few buttons.

It was through the process of product development that Lisa discovered how conventional materials used in the making of bedheads are harmful to the environment. After a long process of research and prototyping Wink now offers products that align with Lisa’s ethical values.

The bedheads at Wink are available in 9 different styles and are made to order in New Zealand.  Using only the highest quality fabrics – many of these from the James Dunlop Textiles range such as Como and Bespoke - the bedheads on offer will curate (or express) a sense of luxury in any bedroom.

“We have developed new methodologies to eliminate the usual foam, toxic glues, plastics and unsustainable timbers wherever possible. All bedheads and footstools are made with sustainable New Zealand wool, screws instead of glues, and super low emission timber board.”  Lisa says.

All feathers used for the cushion inners have been collected ethically and are from New Zealand. The lampshades do not use the typical conventional plastic inners, instead they use water-based glues and are handmade locally. Packaging has also been considered, with the environment in mind.

Wink do not claim to be 100% sustainable and ecological, however, they do everything they can across their business to be as kind to our environment as possible.

Everything is New Zealand-made and you can rest easy knowing your Wink product is kind to the environment and isn’t releasing harmful emissions while you sleep.
