Introducing the TŌTARA – our newest (and widely loved) bedhead style

At Wink we craft custom furniture with a modern integrity - clean lines, tactile fabrics, sustainable materials and thoughtful detailing that bring beauty and functionality together. 

We’re absolutely thrilled to officially introduce the Tōtara, the newest addition to our bedhead collection - although if we’re honest, it’s not entirely new. We’ve actually been making the Tōtara for quite some time behind the scenes, but due to its growing popularity and countless custom requests, we felt it was time it claimed its own rightful spot on our website.

What makes the Tōtara so special?

Generous in scale

The Tōtara is what we call a super wide or extended bedhead. Designed to anchor your bedroom with presence, this style stretches out and makes a serious statement. Whether you want it to neatly frame your bedside tables or span the entire width of your bedroom wall, we can custom-make it to your exact dimensions.

Shape options that inspire

While our minimalist Miro shape is the most common choice for extended bedheads, we’ve had fun creating Tōtara's in a variety of other designs.

• The sculptural Bramble shape, split into three distinct panels, is effortlessly chic.

• Our Mataī style, crafted in 5, 7, 9 or even more panels, offers a bold and sophisticated presence.

• And yes - we’ve even made extended versions in our popular Karekare, Olive, and Juniper shapes which have been nothing short of stunning (stay tuned - we’ll be sharing imagery of these beauties soon!)
  
  

Panel flexibility

The images currently shown feature the Tōtara in three panels, which gives a clean, contemporary balance and makes it much easier to get into most bedrooms (especially those with tight staircases or narrow hallways). That said, if you have the space and the access, we’re more than happy to craft a single-piece, super wide bedhead for a seamless and elevated look.

Integrated switches? Absolutely!

For those after a totally tailored, high-end setup, we can integrate switches and outlets directly into the bedhead. It’s the ultimate blend of form and function - no more awkwardly reaching behind furniture to plug in your lamp, phone, or charger.

At Wink, our furniture is locally made in New Zealand, with an emphasis on craftsmanship, material integrity, and a strong design ethos.
